What Parkinson’s Feels Like

Barbara Salsberg Mathews
Illustrations

I’m very grateful to all of the people with Parkinson’s who took the time to share their descriptions of what Parkinson’s feels like. I wish I could have made illustrations from all of the vivid descriptions but my drawing/painting hand would have ‘run out of gas’ when my meds wore off, so I had to pace myself. To create these illustrations, I used mixed media including: watercolour, ink, acrylic paint, and Photoshop. Many of your images challenged me as an artist which helped make my work stronger. Your descriptions reminded me that I’m not alone. This book could not have been made without sharing your lived experiences as a person with Parkinson’s. Thank you.
